DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 150 is a vertical galvanometer consisting of two long magnetic needles, A and B, mounted rigidly in parallel on a horizontal axis with their poles in opposite positions, north pole of one in correspondence with the south pole of the other and vice versa (see design 1) in the usual astatic configuration. Needle B is inside a symmetric two bobbin coil in which passes the current to be measured. Instead the needle A is outside the coil and is subject to the weak return loop of the magnetic field and acts as pointer to the graduated dial that varies from -60 to +60 in steps of 5. All is supported on a wood base to which are fixed the two terminals T1 and T2. There is a small weight at the extreme of one of the needles to center zero on the graduated scale and provide a restoring torque that acts against the magnetic deflection to establish the equilibrium position.
