DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 846 is spark coil for converting a low voltage current into a high voltage current. It is made by winding two solenoids on the same soft iron cylinder; a primary of a few turns of heavy wire and a secondary of many turns of fine wire. When the current at low voltage in the primary is interrupted, a current at a high voltage is induced in the secondary. This current can be used to draw sparks in air or, for example, drive an X-ray generator. According to the inventory, this spark coil produced sparks up to 35 cm in length.
