DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 842 is dynamo designed to convert mechanical energy in electrical energy. The constant magnetic field M is provided by four horseshoe permanent magnets placed one above the other and tied together with metal wires in three distinct points. The armature is a soft iron rotating cylinder BB with an H cross section (see design-2 in the section a,a) mounted on the horizontal axis xx. Insulated wire is wound on the rotating cylinder whose end points are connected to a commutator (C,C) consisting of a split cylinder fixed to the rotating axis. Two brushes rub the commutator sections to gather the current in fase so as to provide a direct current to the connected terminals (T,T). The pulley d fixed to the axis transmits rotation to the dynamo as furnished by a mechanically driven flywheel. The rotation causes an emf to be induced in the rotor and thus an electric current half wave rectified (see design-3) at the terminals. A heavy iron guide bolted to the base holds the armature and axle in position with respect to the permanent magnet.
