DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 777 is a compound pendulum with a variable moment of inertia and consequently period. It is composed of two masses, M and m that can be moved along two metal rods (see drawing-1), the large mass M along the short rod and the small mass m along the long rod. Both rods are attached to a long black metallic rhombus to which is attached a horizontal knife support which can oscillate on top of a robust wood base. There is a graduated scale in the form of an arc on top of the base. Below the knife edge there is a cross bar to block an eventual circular rotation of the pendulum.
