DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 737 is a microscope stage that permits the precise positioning through independent X-Y movements of the support for the objects to be examined. This stage was controlled by hand and probably substituted around 1990 by more modern controls based on step motors controllable by computer to facilitate the observation of nuclear emulsions exposed to cosmic rays or accelerator beams for research in elementary particles. This substitution often implied a greater X-Y dimension also. In some cased the eyepiece was substituted with a telecamera.
