DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 539 is a small Exner electrometer conserved in its velvet-lined case. This type works on the effect electrical charges have on thin aluminum leaves. The instrument is a brass cylindrical case with circular glass windows on both sides and a brass center rod isolated from the case by a cylindrical mineral collar. There are two parallel plates, connected to external controls, which can slide clear up to the center rod which supports two aluminum leaves. There is an opening near the bottom of the case for introducing a drying agent to keep the humidity low inside the case since humidity favors the loss of charge. The base for holding the electrometer vertical is missing.ISCRIZIONI
