DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 350 is a large reflecting Thomson galvanometer protected by a glass cylinder and conserved in a wood case. It has four 2000 Ohm coils with which it reaches its maximum sensitivity. There are also four 20 Ohm coils for lower sensitivity. In the case cover there are the magnetic needles with opposite polarity which are placed above the instrument when in use to minimize the effect of the earth's magnetic field (the invention of Nobili)
This galvanometer is complete although somewhat oxidized especially at the terminals. The internal magnetic needles and the reflecting mirror are still suspended on a thread, probably quartz.
