DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 332 is apparently a mixtures calorimeter designed by Antonio Garbasso and constructed by an artisan to measure the passage of heat between two liquids with good precision. The construction period was the final years of the 1800's or the first of the 1900's. The instrument consists of a double-walled brass cylinder with a tight lid; a much smaller second cylinder welded to the center of the lid to permit insertion into the larger cylinder. There are two holes in the lid to permit the insertion of a mixer and a thermometer. There is a tube welded to the side wall for extracting the air according to the scheme of the inventor still kept with the instrument in its wood box.
