DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 290 is a mechanical device similar to the Pfaundler apparatus for generating Lissajous projections. Lissajous figures are plane curves formed by combining two perpendicular harmonic oscillations. Their forms are very sensitive to the ratios of the two frequencies.In this device the projections are generated by turning a single crank which moves in perpendicular directions two screens each with slits which define a beam of light which projects the Lissajous figure. Different frequency ratios are possible substituting toothed wheels furnished with the instrument.
