DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 274 is a motion picture camera, acquired in 1923, constructed in metal and enclosed in a wood box with a leather handle. Inside there are two reels, one for the unexposed film and one for the exposed film. The camera is actuated by turning a handle which can be removed for transport. On the inside of one of the openings, there is a table of correspondence between diaphragm openings and closing times. The diaphragm opening and the focal depth could be regulated by two levers; diaphragm opening from 3.8 to 9 and focal depth from 1 m to 6 m and then infinite. On the back side there is an opening for the operator to exam the scene before shooting which however must be closed before shooting. The normal frame rate was 18 frames per second.This camera could be used as a projector by directing a beam of light through an opening in the back side of the machine.
