DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 258 is a 268 mm long Geiger Muller counter which detects ionizing radiation. It was invented by Hans Geiger and Walther Muller, collaborators of Ernest Rutherford, around 1920. It consists of a glass tube filled with gas and containing electrodes, which are maintained at a high voltage difference without generating currents. When an ionizing particle passes through the tube, a short but intense current pulse passes from the negative to the positive electrode which can be measured and counted.ISCRIZIONI
