DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 173 is a Faraday apparatus for demonstrating magnetic induction consisting of two coils, a fixed secondary coil and a primary movable coil with a wood handle. In practice the secondary coil is connected to a galvanometer with a central zero to register the current induced by both increasing or decreasing the linked flux provided by the movable primary. The linked flux can be changed by opening or closing the primary circuit or by moving the primary inside the secondary.fixed
