DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 701 is a Lissajous figure generating system based on the use of 8 steel tuning forks mounted on wood parallelepipeds and conserved in a wood case. Some accessories (horizontal and vertical supports and the U-shaped bench) that serve to mount the tuning forks for displaying the Lissajous figures on a screen are missing. Each tuning fork has a square hard wood handle and has on its arms brass disks, one which carries a mirror and the other a weight for balance and long duration of the vibrations. Four tuning forks have fixed frequencies while the others carry sliders which can be fixed in different positions: for each position the frequency is inscribed.

The list of the tuning forks and their relative characteristics can be read from the base or from each tuning fork.
