DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 773 is a Bunsen burner, a very common source of heating especially in chemistry labs. This object was registered in the inventory in 1883 as "Bunsen tripod by Desaga". Peter Desaga was an instrument maker at Heidelberg University and collaborator of Robert Wilhelm Bunsen. In 1855 Desage perfected a gas burner designed by Michael Faraday, making in this way the first "Bunsen burner".
This object has a triangular iron base on which is inserted a brass tube with an approximately triangular saddle on the top. The base was painted green but shows signs of rust. The leveling screws are missing.
