DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 708 is a microphotometer set to measure the luminous intensity of microscopic samples or microscopic areas of larger objects. It was designed to be inserted in an optical microscope to measure the optical intensity either by transmission or reflection. This set, intended for metallurgic research, was constructed by Leitz according to a design by Max Berek (1886-1949). It is conserved in a felt-lined case in which are present:

Exhibit 435, acquired at the same time, is an accessory of the Leitz microscope (now missing) on which the microphotometer was mounted for observing with transmitted light.
