DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 628 is an open tube manometer used to measure the presure of a fluid (liquid or gaseous). It consists of a U-shaped glass tube fixed in three points on a wood support with a graduated scale of length 15 cm (precision 1 cm) and a round wood base. The tube was filled with a liquid of known density (for example, mercury).
If the pressure on the two surfaces (a) and (b) is the same, the liquid level in both sides is the same. If the pressures are different, the liquid in the two branches reach different levels (see design-1).

P2 = Pressione to measure
ρ = densità del fluido usato
g = gravity acceleration
h = difference in level in the two branches.
