DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 621 is variable angle prism consisting of a brass container in the form of a concave prism with adjustable glass side windows.
The apparatus permits demonstrating refraction through liquids at different angles, the dispersion of colors, total internal reflection and even achromatism. See photo-1 and image-2)
The examined liquid is poured into the container and eventual leakage is accumulated in the concave plate (photo-1). All is supported by a sturdy brass base having three leveling screws (see image-1).
To obtain a greater separation of white light in its components, there is included a small glass prism mounted on a separate support near the adjustable window as seen in image-2.
The experimental layout is illustrated in image-2 copied from reference [1].
