DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 619 is the Leslie cube, a cubic structure of conducting metal (generally copper) with an opening with a cover on the top. The four sides are all different: one varnished black, one white, one polished and one rough. After being filled with boiling water, one can measure the emissive power of each side to find that the black side and the rough side emit more heat energy than the white side and the polished one, a result that was demonstrated by John Leslie (1766-1832) in 1804.Dati Catalografici
