DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 569 is the optical recorder for the transversal oscillations of the wire in the Einthoven wire galvanometer (exhibit 154). It consists of four parts:The upper section contained the roll of unexposed film which could pass through a slit into the center section.
The center section has an adjustable slit on the front and a mechanical system to draw the film in front of the slit where the shadows of the vibrating wire expose the film.
The third section contains the mechanism for winding the exposed film.
The fourth section contains a system for withdrawing the film roll securely into a black cloth. The time base imposed on the film was furnished by a motor which rotated a circular disk having teeth which intercepted a light beam. If the disk intercepted the light beam 25 times per second, one obtained a time base of 1/25 of a second.
