DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 515 is a glass tube with a cathode on the left, a perforated diaphragm in the middle and a mica disk covered with a florescent substance on the right end. When a high voltage is applied, the electrons emitted from the cathode must past through the hole in the diaphragm to activate the florescent coating. Now that spot can be deviated by bringing near a magnet to demonstrate that electrons are negative particles by the direction of the deviation following the Lorentz formula that gives the force on a charged particle as q.VxB where q is the charge, V is the velocity vector and B is the magnetic field. Exhibit 516 is a similar tube but longer.
