DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 513 is an evacuated glass tube with three anodes and one cathode mounted on a wood base, known as Roentgen tube or Crookes tube. Inside the ampulla, the pressure can be either a few millimeters of mercury or much less. In the first case, when a high voltage is applied (about 3 KV, for example connecting to a Ruhmkorff spark coil) there appear three luminous streams from the three anodes to the cathode. In the second case visible radiation is emitted from the parabolic cathode which after crossing itself produces fluorescence on the ampulla wall (see design-1).

The apparatus was used to study "radiant material"
