DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 500 is a lamp, known as the Hefner lamp, approved by the Physikalish-Technichen Reichsanstalt as the standard German photometric luminous source. [1] [2].

The solid wick fills completely a tube of internal diameter 8 mm. On the inside there is an optical device for measuring the height of the flame which must be 40 mm.
The unit of luminous intensity was the hefner (HK), called also 'hefnerkerze' whose value is equal to 0.903 candles (cd SI)
