DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 499 is a vessel for maintaining in an air-free environment objects subject to oxidation.

It consists of a glass container divided in two parts: a lower part in the form of a smaller diameter truncated cone and an upper cylindrical part. Between the two parts there is a perforate brass grate. The upper part is closed by a glass cover with a central knob, perforated to permit the insertion of a rubber hose connected to a vacumm pump. The cover adheres tightly to the cylinder due to a flat greased rubber gasket.
