DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 461 is an apparatus for the recording of the wind velocity and direction in the eight cardinal directions (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, NW). In the upper part the actual direction is indicated by activating one of the eight electromagnets corresponding to the direction nearest to one of the cardinal directions. In the lower part the magnitude of the wind velocity is indicated by the large needle. The recording cylinder makes a rotation in 52 minutes and its rotation is driven by a clockwork windable with the included key. The entire apparatus is enclosed in a wood case with a brass handle.

An example of the electrical connection of a four direction recorder is described in the catalog of the constructor  ^[1].
