DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 418 is a pyrheliometer designed by Amerio and used to measure directly the solar radiation (solar constant) as heat per unit time and per unit area. The sensor is a thermopile placed inside a metal container. To guarantee that the sun's rays arrive perpendicularly on the thermopile, there are two holes along the metal container through which a sun's ray must pass. The instrument is supported on a tripod with adjustable screws for leveling. There are two terminals marked "G" for a galvanometer and two marked "R" for a resistance. The principal of operation is the same as the actinometer designed by Linke and Feussner (exhibit 454).ISCRIZIONI
