DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 406 is a galvanometer constructed by Bacchini according to the Deprez D'Arsonval model (see exhibit 29). In this galvanometer a thread holds suspended the current carrying coil and a mirror for reading by the Poggendorff method (see exhibit 371). The coil can rotate in the space between the poles of a permanent horseshoe magnet. The thread conducts the current which exits through a spiral spring below the coil. The entire mechanism is protected by a 4 cm diameter metallic cylinder with a glass window for observing the mirror rotation. The base has three leveling screws. There is also a shunt to allow higher values of current.
