DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 325 is a potentiometer, an electric device consisting of two resistors connected in series whose relative values can be varied while their sum is constant. The simplest configuration is that of a resistive wire on which a cursor with sliding contact can furnish a variable value of the voltage applied to the end terminals. Potentiometers were used to measure with precision a voltage in comparison with a standard reference. This model consists of a graduated wood base of length 60 cm on which is stretched a wire soldered at the two ends. This base is fixed to a metal bar of length 72 cm on which slides the cursor whose terminal is lost.
