DESCRIPTION

Exhibit 307 is a galvanometer manufactured by Charles Jest, who was the designated instrument maker for the physics department of Turin University from 1852 until 1900. The full scale range (rigorously limited by physical stops) goes from -60 to +60. It is of the type in which the current to be measured flows in fixed coils and the pointer on the vertical dial visible through a glass window is connected to a permanent magnet free to rotate inside the coils. The instrument is contained in a wood case with a handle and the terminals on the top.
