DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 296 is a hollow zinc sphere, isolated because mounted on a red glass column with a wood base containing a heavy metal (lead) ring for stability. This sphere along with two Cavendish hemispheres (exhibit 25) was used to demonstrate the Gauss law on the superficial distribution of charge. The sphere has six 1.5 mm holes along the equator and another higher up and a metal ring with a hook on the bottom.Dati Catalografici
