DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 277 is a compass for determining the cardinal directions starting from north-south indicated by the magnetic needle free to rotate on a pivot and sense the magnetic field of the earth. The brass cylinder which contains this compass has a glass cover and is fixed to a square base with two slats for further support (see photo). The symbol of the winds is incised on the base of the cylinder and a protractor scale (0 to 360 degrees with least count of one degree) is incised on the perimeter.Dati Catalografici
