DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 160 is a Kohlrausch ammeter, the scheme of which is shown in design 1. It consists of a vertical solenoid S, composed of 24 spirals of insulated wire wound on a cylinder and welded to two terminals T1 and T2 (marked + and- on the wood base). Above the solenoid, there is a brass cylinder inside of which there is a solid iron cylindrical bar F suspended by a vertical spring E and carrying a dial visible through a lateral window in the brass cylinder. In the same window there is a graduated scale which varies from 1 to 10 ampere. When the current to be measured flows in the solenoid, the iron bar magnetized by induction descends inside the solenoid to a position in equilibrium between the attraction of the solenoid magnet field and the extension of the spring E. In this position, the dial indicates the flowing current in amperes.ISCRIZIONI
