DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 748 is part of the support for measuring the rotation of mirrors using the method of Poggendorf (see exhibit 371). Many experiments require this type of measurement, for example, the torsional rotation of the wire in a sensitive galvanometer. Here we have a cylindrical iron bar mounted on a tripod along which slides a ring that originally held a telescope. The same bar can support a linear graduated scale illuminated in the central part by a 125-volt Philips lamp.
