DESCRIPTION
Exhibit 114 is a condenser designed by Epino Carpentier to illustrate the functioning of a flat condenser. It is composed of two bronze disks mounted on inclinable supports fixed to a wood base. Between the two supports is a hole to support an eventual dielectric, usually glass.The instrument was used to show how the capacitance of a flat condenser depended on the distance between the plates and the effect of various dielectrics. The condenser was charged by an electrostatic generator and the voltage measured with an electroscope. A similar condenser is exhibit 15.
